How to watch YouTube on CarPlay
The YouTube app doesn’t show video in CarPlay. Car Cinema does: its built-in browser plays YouTube on the car’s display while you’re parked, in every car with CarPlay, on iOS 26.4 and later — iOS 27.2 included.
What you need
- An iPhone with iOS 26.4 or later
- A car or a stereo with Apple CarPlay, wired or wireless
- Car Cinema from the App Store — the first 30 minutes are free
Watch YouTube on the car’s display
- Connect your iPhone to CarPlay and park.
- Open Car Cinema on the car’s screen and tap I am parked.
- Open the Browser and go to YouTube.
- Pick a video. It plays on the car’s display, with the sound through the car’s speakers.
Good to know
- Parked only. Video on the car’s display is for parked cars and passengers.
- Any site, not only YouTube. Open a page in Car Cinema’s browser and it lists the videos it finds, ready to play in its player.
- iOS 18 to 26.3: CarPlay shows your lists and plays the sound; the picture stays on the iPhone.
Not sure what your car shows? Open Settings → What plays where in Car Cinema, or read the compatibility page.
