Jellyfin and Emby on CarPlay: your media server in the car

Car Cinema plays your Jellyfin or Emby library on the iPhone, in the car and on your TV. Films, series and home videos start where you stopped, and Car Cinema tells your server how far you got, so your other devices carry on from the same spot.

Sign in to your server

1. Open Car Cinema on the iPhone and add a source.
2. Choose Server, then enter your Jellyfin or Emby address, user name and password.
3. Your films, series and home videos appear in the library.

Watch in the car

1. Connect your iPhone to CarPlay.
2. Pick a film or an episode on the car’s screen or on the iPhone.
3. Parked, tap I am parked and it plays on the car’s display — on iOS 26.4 and later, in every car with CarPlay.
4. The steering wheel buttons move to the next or previous episode of the season.

Good to know

• Picks up where you left off — on the iPhone, in the car and on your other Jellyfin or Emby apps.
• Away from home, your server has to be reachable over the internet.
• At home, cast to a Chromecast, an Apple TV or a smart TV from the same player.
