What’s new in Car Cinema 1.0.3
Car Cinema 1.0.3 is the biggest update so far. It keeps films, live TV and YouTube on the car’s display on iOS 27.2, takes them to the TV at home, and turns the iPhone into a full IPTV player.
Video on the car’s display on iOS 27.2
On iOS 27.2, Car Cinema plays films, live TV and YouTube on the car’s display while you’re parked — in every car with CarPlay, as it did on iOS 26.4 to 27.1. On the move your lists stay on the car’s screen and the sound keeps playing. Read what changed in iOS 27.2.
Chromecast, AirPlay and smart TVs
One cast button now lists every screen around you:
- Chromecast and Google TV
- Apple TV and AirPlay TVs
- Samsung, LG, Sony, Philips and other DLNA smart TVs
The film plays on the TV and the iPhone stays the remote, from the lock screen too.
A real IPTV player on the iPhone
- More formats: MKV, AVI, WebM, WMV, FLV and MPEG-TS play on the iPhone.
- TV guide grid: channels down, hours across — tap what’s on to watch it.
- Channel zapping: swipe to the next channel in the group.
- Picture in picture and a mini player that follows you around the app.
Also in Car Cinema
- Search across channels, films, series and favourites.
- A sleep timer and a controls lock for little hands.
- Add a playlist by scanning a QR code.
- Back up your sources, favourites and settings to a file.
- Videos from Photos, up to 50 at a time.
Check what plays on your own iPhone, TV and car in the app: Settings → What plays where. The details are on the compatibility page.
