Free live TV in the car with CarPlay

A lot of live TV is free and legal to watch: news channels run 24-hour streams on YouTube, and many public broadcasters stream their channels on their own websites. With Car Cinema you can watch them on the car’s display while you’re parked — no playlist needed.

Free live TV on YouTube

Many TV channels stream live on YouTube around the clock — news channels such as Sky News, Bloomberg and Al Jazeera English, plus live music, nature cams and sport highlights.

  1. Connect your iPhone to CarPlay and park.
  2. Open Car Cinema on the car’s screen and tap I am parked.
  3. Open the Browser, go to YouTube and search for the channel’s name with the word “live”.
  4. The stream plays on the car’s display, with the sound through the car’s speakers.

Public broadcasters’ websites

Many public broadcasters stream their channels live on their websites — for example BBC iPlayer in the UK, RaiPlay in Italy, and ARD and ZDF in Germany. Open the site in Car Cinema’s browser on the car’s screen while you’re parked.

Some of them ask you to sign in, need a TV licence, or work only in their own country, and streams protected with DRM won’t play.

Channels from your TV or internet provider

Some TV and internet providers include live channels with your plan and give you an M3U link or an Xtream login for other devices. Ask your provider, then add it to Car Cinema as a playlist — with the TV guide, where the provider gives one. Read where to get an IPTV playlist.

What you need

  • An iPhone with iOS 26.4 or later for the picture on the car’s display. On iOS 18 to 26.3 you hear the sound in the car and watch on the iPhone.
  • A car or a stereo with Apple CarPlay
  • Car Cinema — the first 30 minutes are free, then Car Cinema Pro keeps it playing

A word on “free IPTV lists”

Lists of free IPTV links found online often carry channels shared without the broadcaster’s permission, and links that stop working or play only in one country. Car Cinema comes with no channels of its own: stick to sources you have the right to watch.
